With its roots from the Soviet era, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan is one of the world’s oldest on-going disputes. Together with UCL International Relations Society, we’re honoured to have Mr Farid Shafiyev explore with us the conflict’s history and the prospects of future peace in the region. We’ll also discuss the international responses to the conflict from countries and institutions such as Turkey, Russia, the OCSE Minsk Group and the United Nations.

About the speaker:

Farid Shafiyev is the Chairman for the center of Analysis of International Relations and an Adjunct Lecturer at ADA University. He has 20 years of experience as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, of which he was the Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Canada. Farid also holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a PhD in History from Carleton University.
